The UTRGV<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.utrgv.edu\/careercenter\/events\/national-student-employment-week\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">&nbsp;website<\/a>&nbsp;states that the celebration is meant to \u201crecognize and appreciate\u201d the importance of student-employees for their \u201coutstanding performance and contributions\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration started on Monday through a kick-off party in which they announce all the events of the week such as virtual Loteria, virtual workshops, career conversations, and many more activities conducted online.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Student Employment Coordinator for UTRGV,&nbsp;Sandra Mireles&nbsp;says&nbsp;these events are how UTRGV celebrates the hard work of student-employees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>We also choose to participate because it is a national event and&nbsp;through&nbsp;this&nbsp;event is&nbsp;how we can celebrate and appreciate&nbsp;all&nbsp;the&nbsp;student\u2019s&nbsp;for their hard work and their dedication to UTRGV.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Mireles says these events are done on a yearly basis, in the month of April, and this is the 5th year the Career Center is hosting these events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Career Center finalized the week announcing the winners of both Supervisor and Student-employee of the year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners for the Edinburg Campus are Constantine&nbsp;Tarawneh&nbsp;and William&nbsp;Reckley&nbsp;and for the Brownsville Campus, they are Ruth Torres and Sandra&nbsp;Masso.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sociology Junior and Student Career Advisor, Noel Rangel says that this week pushes students to do better.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>You know this week I think pushes students to do better, the appreciation of the supervisors I think is a very positive\u2026 something positive to look forward in the week.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Mireles says there are more than twenty-five hundred students working for URGV and those applying in the summer, will be required to be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours, for the whole summer.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mireles explained that are encouraging students to find a job on campus because it is&nbsp;more convenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>We encourage students to find&nbsp;a job on campus, and on campus it\u2019s because&nbsp;that way&nbsp;is convenient for them, they are already coming to school on campus, they might as&nbsp;either&nbsp;have a job on campus,&nbsp;is more convenient.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on how to become a student-employee for the summer visit the Career Center at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.utrgv.edu\/careercenter\/\" target=\"_blank\">utrgv.edu\/careercenter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><em>Reporter: Victor Rivero <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week,&nbsp;the Career Center at UTRGV celebrated the National Student Employment Week.
