SCREEN SHOT BY JUSTIN ELIZALDE\/VAQUERO RADIO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Bar1016_mixdown.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Bars and similar establishments will be allowed to open to 50% capacity as of noon today until at least Nov. 9, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cameroncounty.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/10.16.2020-PR-SIxth-Amended-Emergency-Management-Order-Including-Limited-Bar-Re-Openings-and-Halloween-Restrictions.pdf\"><strong>news release<\/strong><\/a> by Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevi\u00f1o, Jr, issuing the Sixth Amended Emergency Management Order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amendment is a result of Gov. Greg Abbot\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/uploads\/files\/press\/EO-GA-32_continued_response_to_COVID-19_IMAGE_10-07-2020.pdf\"><strong>Executive Order GA-32<\/strong><\/a> issued on Oct. 7. The order allowed counties with low hospitalization rates to reopen bars to 50% capacity and businesses other than bars to 75% capacity as of Wednesday. The order also states that bars and businesses must enforce health protocols.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with Vaquero Radio earlier today, Trevi\u00f1o said he was surprised at the details of the order but wanted to get elected officials and health authority input prior to making a decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThat\u2019s why when people were asking if I was going to, if we were going to opt-in or opt-out, my response was \u2018I don\u2019t know\u2019 we\u2019re going to review it and make as informed decision as we possibly can, collaborating with all of the other elected officials for their input and obviously the health authority,\u201d Trevi\u00f1o said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In a news<a href=\"https:\/\/cameroncountytx.swagit.com\/play\/10162020-584\"> <strong>conference<\/strong><\/a> held earlier today, Trevi\u00f1o reminded businesses and citizens from Cameron County that the curfew of midnight is still in effect. Trevi\u00f1o responded to how the county would handle enforcement of the curfew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe law enforcement and city inspectors will be able to enforce the curfew with regards to any violation if they\u2019re open late or staying open late,\u201d Trevi\u00f1o said.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The amended order also stated that there shall be no Halloween activities such as door-to-door trick or treating, direct handing out of treats or parties of 10 or more people of a single household. The order does exempt parties where there is social distancing enforcement and facial coverings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trevi\u00f1o expressed his concerns with reopening but added citizens adhered to Labor Day gathering restrictions and did not cause a surge so he believes it can be repeated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cPeople need to be very, very careful,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve asked them to modify their conduct and their daily behavior and they\u2019ve been doing it.
