titled \u201cPHASES,\u201d at 7 p.m. Monday live via Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition will be displayed at the Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in the Liberal Arts Building South on the Edinburg campus Tuesday through Aug. 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lugo, who is pursuing a master\u2019s of fine arts, is a graphic designer and illustrator whose work explores typographic design, illustrated letterforms and geometric abstractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said that typography is an area of focus for design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt\u2019s basically the study of letters. \u2026 It\u2019s just a field that is continuing to grow,\u201d Lugo said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Lugo explains that she has the desire to explore typography and its relation to images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe way I would like to approach it is to really, kinda, explore the combination of typography and image in one format or the relationship of both of them interacting with each other,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPHASES\u201d will help visitors understand what she is trying to demonstrate in her work, according to Lugo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt explains the visual language that exists in between word and image and the role they play in expressing visual symbiotics. \u2026Visual symbiotics is the meaning of signs,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth Berger, program coordinator for the Graphic Design Department at the School of Art and Design, has high hopes for the exhibition and for Lugo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAll these ways, getting yourself in social media \u2026 all that stuff gets your name out and lets people know you exist,\u201d said Berger, an associate professor. \u201cI see her as on the path of doing that and step-by-step, one thing leads to another, so the future is, I think, very bright for her.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Lugo said those who wish to see the display may do so but will have precautions due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt\u2019s basically a glass horizontal gallery and, obviously, because of COVID, you will not be able to go in, but we\u2019re gonna be pushing the walls really close to the glass so you can look at it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s still gonna be open to the public to go
