The Lower Rio Grande active plan bike and hiking trail is in the process of getting a new name and logo. The last chance to put your input through survey was January 21st.\u00a0City Commissioner from Brownsville, Texas Dr. Rose Gowen says more about the trail.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a network of 428 miles on road, off road, and on water trails that will connect the 11 cities in Cameron County.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although the trail is planned to connect across 11 cities, hundreds of citizens use the trails in Brownsville. Communication studies junior Brandi Beltran tells us more about her experience on the trail.<\/p>\n

“Every weekend my husband and I take a ride on our bikes just to enjoy nature without being scared of a car wrecking in to us, so it\u2019s great to have a trail like this.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dr. Gowen explains the three main goals of the active plan.<\/p>\n

“The three goals of the active plan: <\/em><\/p>\n

  • One: Excite our own people to become more active and make that more possible. <\/em><\/li>\n
  • Two: To become a destination for active tourists, and <\/em><\/li>\n
  • Three: To drive the growth of small businesses that would support those active tourists and our own people, in their adventures here in Cameron County.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    The announcing of the new name is still pending and will be announced by press release. As for the logo, it will take more time to be unveiled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
