So now that I understand the process on how to do tax returns, I highly think that everyone should know how to do tax returns. It\u2019s something that you\u2019re going to do for the rest of your life,\u201d Cruz said.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She said the VITA program has been in Hidalgo and Starr County for more than 10 years, but people are barely finding out about it now as a result of the partnership with UTRGV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many have avoided the resource due to their distrust of letting a stranger look at their taxes according to Cruz.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cObviously they\u2019re skeptical about it and they\u2019re like oh, what if it\u2019s not a program that we can trust because I know there is misinformation, but I do wanna reinforce that we are a safe program, we are granted by the I.R.S, we do go through training so we can be at the site,\u201d Cruz said.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/myfreetaxes.com\/\">myfreetaxes.com&nbsp;<\/a>to file your taxes online or you can visit U central at both the Edinburg and Brownsville campus and a VITA-certified United Way tax consultant will assist you step by step to file your taxes online.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more about the documentation items needed to file your taxes for free at U central you can visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utrgv.edu\/ucentral\/paying-for-college\/my-free-tax\/index.htm\">utrgv.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The free services will be available from now until March 10, Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Timothy Chapman 02\/27\/2023 This the season of income tax filing and UTRGV has partnered with United Way to<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":5750,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"cybocfi_hide_featured_image":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[569,13,16],"tags":[555,27,68,44,194,42,26],"class_list":["post-5749","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-academic","category-brownsville","category-edinburg","tag-555","tag-brownsville","tag-edinburg","tag-news","tag-spring","tag-students","tag-utrgv"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.4 -
