A space where we really want to build for our athletics program. We have so many things that we do in athletics and a lot of people would probably ask&nbsp; \u2018Why are you dabbling in this space?\u2019 It&#8217;s really been a goal of ours for years. So, to be able to now launch into this space with salsa just made a lot of sense.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tio Pelon Salsita Inc. is owned by two Valley natives, Founder Oscar Perez and Co-Founder Noe Molina. The company is located in San Antonio Texas and it took off in 2015 in Perrez\u2019s 90 foot square apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They partnered with UTRGV Athletics after several meetings, and extended networking. Molina talked about the process it took to be official partners with UTRGV Athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cThey got excited about our product, us being from the valley, one of us being an alumni,\u201d he said. \u201cWith the launch of the football team coming up and just trying to stir up more excitement around the athletics division and around the brand. [They] approached us about collaboration on a product that had a story.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Telling a story in their salsa is what Perez likes to create in Tio Pelon\u2019s products. Vaquero Especial will have a medium roasted jalape\u00f1o and <em>\u2018chile piquin\u2019<\/em> taco-style taste. Perez talked about the ingredients used in the product.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cYou\u2019re going to find something that we don\u2019t find in many salsa\u2019s that are currently [in] grocery stores,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a chile that we all know, and it&#8217;s called <em>\u2018chile piqu\u00edn\u2019,<\/em> and that just brings out the spice in any sauce.
