{"id":8543,"date":"2026-04-06T08:41:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T14:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/?p=8543"},"modified":"2026-04-06T08:41:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T14:41:30","slug":"students-learn-suturing-skills-at-utrgv-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/06\/students-learn-suturing-skills-at-utrgv-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Learn Suturing Skills at UTRGV Event"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/MEDLIFE-FULL_mixdown.wav\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">MEDLIFE&nbsp;&nbsp;hosted a Suturing Clinic on Wednesday at the Ballroom on the Edinburg campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event brought together students interested in healthcare to learn essential suturing techniques used in clinical settings, creating a space for both education and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants practiced wound closure methods, explored different suture styles, and worked with surgical instruments in a guided and supportive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Angel Jose, president of MEDLIFE, said the workshop provided students with valuable real-world insight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cU.S. Army officers helping us learn how to do a few suture and a few stitches,\u201d Jose said.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Students from various healthcare-related fields attended the clinic to expand their knowledge and prepare for future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christine Teju, secretary of MEDLIFE, said they do accept people from all majors but a medical background is preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cSo the people that are coming today, they&#8217;re all health majors. Seventy percent or a little bit higher are usually going premed.
