Each one of us are training all<\/strong> <strong>summer.\u201d Rodriguez said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rodriguez said the team wants to build on last season&#8217;s results and finish among the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>\u201cThe ultimate goal this year is just to try and beat that, try and be the top five scorer as a<\/strong> <strong>team.<\/strong> <strong>\u201d Rodriguez said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Individually, Rodriguez is aiming even higher, with a goal of finishing among the top runners in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>\u201cPersonally, I want to get top 20. I want to get that all-conference.\u201d Rodriguez said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Kailey Salazar is entering her fourth year with the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a season that did not go exactly as expected, Salazar is looking ahead and focusing on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">what she can accomplish this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to my team dominating,\u201d Salazar said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salazar also has personal goals she wants to reach before the season is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong>\u201cPersonally, I\u2019m looking forward to breaking records, going to the NCAA regionals, hopefully going further than what I know I can do,\u201d Salazar said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With experienced runners, summer preparation, and clear goals, UTRGV cross country is looking to make the most of the new season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UTRGV cross country team will be competing Friday Oct. 16 at College station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is Sebastian Espino for Vaquero Radio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A small roster does not stop UTRGV cross country from setting big goals this season.
