{"id":8779,"date":"2026-09-21T10:25:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-21T16:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/?p=8779"},"modified":"2026-09-21T10:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T16:26:09","slug":"constitution-day-teaches-students-civic-engagement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/21\/constitution-day-teaches-students-civic-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitution Day Teaches Students Civic Engagement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/utrgvradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/CONSTITUTION-FULL.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Constitution Day gave the UTRGV community an opportunity to learn more about the U.S. Constitution while participating in activities and receiving information about civic engagement and voter registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event took place from 10 a.m. to noon and featured activities designed to encourage students to learn more about the Constitution while connecting with members of the UTRGV community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event provided students with information about voter registration and the rights and responsibilities of citizens in time for the midterm elections in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early education major, Alicia Smith, said students could also reach out for any doubts related to the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cThey can also ask about voting registration, so if they are not registered to vote, they can ask us about that,\u201d Smith said.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smith also said learning about the Constitution can help citizens understand their rights and the laws that apply to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cIt&#8217;s important for citizens of the United States to know about the amendments and what you can and cannot do in terms of legality in the U.S.,\u201d Smith said.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International business major, Elijah Davis, said students could participate in Constitution Day trivia and may get prices for participating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cIn order to celebrate, we have Constitution Day trivia.
