Youtube Personalities Break The Internet

Two internet personalities: Shane Yaw Dawson and Jeffrey Lynn Steininger released a new eyeshadow palette last week that has local retailers and students at UTRGV at a loss for words.  Steininger stated he sold out of over 1 million units in just 30 minutes after its launch date November 1 on Morphe, Shopify, and Beauty Bay, which all crashed just seconds after the launch.

Houston Morphe Manager, Madeline Mendoza explains the launch.

“We sold through completely the day that we got it, I honestly don’t know how much was sent to us, but we know everything we got was depleted. I can’t imagine it’s going to be around any much longer.”

The collaboration between Shane Yaw Dawson and Jeffree Star Cosmetics known as JSC, owned by Steininger, was the first of its kind to be created on a documentary series named: “The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star.” This premiered on Youtube in late September. Dawson explained just how much work went into this collaboration in a recent Instagram live.

“On a real note: I have put everything into this series. I have put everything into this pallete. I have put my entire year into this.”

Mass communication Junior Midyana Mireles says why the release has been so viral to herself and her peers at UTRGV.

“I know that people can relate to him, because he is super relatable. So, I think it is more of a support towards him, and why people are buying the palette. On top of that this has the Jeffree Star quality of makeup.”

Retailers have not yet commented on a possible relaunch, and JSC is predicting a mass restock in early 2020.  This is Jerry Galindo for UTRGV Radio News.
