Tomorrow registered voters in Texas will cast votes for the 2020 Primary Elections.
The Primary Elections ballot will show candidates for U-S President, U-S Senate, U-S House of Districts, Texas Supreme Court, among others.
Associate Vice President for UTRGV’s Governmental Relations, Richard Sanchez advises students to do research on the candidates before going to vote.
Do a little research in to these candidates. ‘What are their philosophies? What have they done? What’s their experience? What’s important to you?’ You know which philosophy is important to you?
Registered voters in Hidalgo County will be able to vote at any poll location in the county, including the Edinburg Student Union. Meanwhile in Cameron County, registered voters must find the polling location assigned to their precinct.
Sanchez says that knowing you polling location is just as important knowing you candidates.
Just as important of knowing, you know, who you should vote for: do your homework ahead of time and find out whereyou can vote.
English Graduate Student, Victoria Walls says that having a polling location on campus is beneficial since finding the locations can be confusing.
Oh, I think it’s great. I feel like I get very confused like trying to find places and having it here is really, very beneficial. I feel like it’s a good way to keep students active and involved.
