At UTRGV’s Village Apartment a male was charged with a criminal trespass warning, after causing a disturbance while intoxicated, according to UTRGV’s Chief of Police Adan Cruz. Chief Cruz explains the situation that occurred on Thursday March 12.

Our officers got a call about a disturbance. There was a subject found outside who was intoxicated.

Cruz says the charges were dropped but the intoxicated male got a criminal trespass warning.

No charges were filed on the person but he was released to the custody of a responsible adult. As a result, a criminal trespass warning was issued to that person for 24 months.

Cruz says that a criminal trespass warning means that the person can not be on UTRGV property for two years or else they will get arrested and charged for trespassing.

Director of the Department of Housing and Resident Life Sergio Martinez says who to contact to report a disturbance in the dorms.

They can reach out to the resident assistant via on call phone or they can also text. They can call the University Police directly or use the University Shield app and send a text message through that.

To report any suspicious activity on campus call UTRGV PD at (956)-882-4911 or send a message through the University Shield App.
