Through a message from the President of UTRGV last Friday, President Guy Baily introduced the Pass or Fail option in response to the current COVID-19 crisis. This option slated for implementation soon only for the current spring semester. President Bailey explains how the plan created by the faculty senate will be implemented for qualifying students.
Essentially it will work like this, you will take your exams, you will have a grade posted ‘ABCD’ and then once you see those grades you will have an option to take that grade or to elect a pass or no pass.
President Bailey assured that these efforts including the parking reimbursements, student emergency fund, and new GRE and GMAT requirements are to safeguard the focus of achieving a degree and to mitigate the current stresses of the online transition. Students such as Mass Communications Junior Miguel Cepeda say the transition is highly needed.
Overall, I really think the whole pass/fail system is a crutch that we can really rely on. It’s just really nice to know that my grades wont negatively affect me as much as they regularly would.
The pass or fail option will soon be available as a portal on Assist once the current spring course schedule is completed. President Bailey ensures that students must continue their ongoing studies and what to look forward to once the crisis of COVID-19 is over.
We think it will be a good opportunity for you to continue your success that you have already had and prepare yourselves for good jobs as soon as the financial hard times are over.
More support for students at UTRGV is coming soon such as additional finical incentives are already planned for imminent announcements says President Guy Bailey.
