UTRGV’s Patron of the Arts has moved their live performances to online for the Spring semester due to Covid-19. UTRGV’s Patron of the Arts provides a platform for faculty and students to perform in front of a live audience and display their musical talents, according to its website.
Director of the School of Music, Kurt Martinez shares where to listen to the performances.
All the concerts are first premiered on Facebook live and then they’re going to be available on Instagram and YouTube after that. So, people can watch them if they can’t be there at six then they can watch it later on.
UTRGV’s Patron of the Arts is a performance and membership series from UTRGV’s school of music. Patron of the Arts was created to provide the community with opportunities for learning by attending live events by professional guest musicians.
The goal is to let the community come and hear great art at affordable prices.
Due to the performances being moved online for the remainder of the Spring semester the performances are free. Normally they are around $5 to $10.
Music Education Junior, Edwardo Salinas shares his thoughts about Patron of the Arts.
What I appreciate about what they are doing is that it promotes something that I believe several, if not all, musicians stand for which is perseverance.
The Patron of the Arts has a performance twice a week on Wednesday’s and Friday’s at 6:00 p.m. For more information about Patron of the Arts visit the website patron.utrgv.edu.
