Edinburg Student Union partnered with Sodexo to host a tabling event, titled, “Taste of the Union,” last Thursday.
According to the UTRGV Office for Sustainability website, Sodexo is UTRGV’s Dining Services Contractor.
The event included an interactive activity with food court promotions. It was located on the first floor near the sliding doors of the Student Union building for students, faculty and staff.
Student Manager at the Student Union, Adriana Nava shared the purpose of the event,
“It is to have students come visit the Union, first off, and to let them know what different restaurants we have, because regardless, people coming to classes, sometimes, they don’t stop by the Union. So, it’s good to just promote our food venues that we have and everything new that is here at the Union.”
Nava explained her role for the event.
“So, since, I’m a student manager, I do, I have to make sure that everything is in order. If they have the advertisement posters that they needed, in order to let students know what kind of promotions each food venue is having. Since the Union is doing tabling, such as the Spin the Wheel, to receive free gifts, or free prizes, actually we are in charge of setting up tables, any tabling that needs to be done throughout the Union for the special event, is done by us.”
It was the first Student Union event for Kinesiology sophomore Jorge Salazar. It took him less than a minute to participate, said Salazar.
Another attendee was Accounting junior, Naideli Ontiveros. She noticed the event as she passed by the union and decided to check it out. She left a final comment for students,
“Just students get themselves involved. Take advantage of the events, you never know what may happen, we don’t know if another pandemic may arise, just take advantage of it.”
