Social Fest is the Valley’s first social media conference featuring content creators, entrepreneurs, and marketing leaders. The two day conference aims to set a foundation for emerging content creators and businesses in the RGV.
CEO of Brand Geniuz and event director for Social Fest Yaw Sam said the purpose of the event is to educate people about how to boost local businesses and content creators through social media.
Chief marketing and operations officer at Brand Geniuz and event director of Social Fest, Aylin Madrigal said many people in the Rio Grande Valley do not know what marketing is.
“In the past, honestly, in the past 10, 15 years, marketing has changed so much because of social media, because of all these technological advancements,” Madrigal said.
Sam said Social Fest will consist of sessions and workshops to help the community enhance marketing skills.
Madrigal said the sessions will be occurring at the same time, each session having speakers who are professionals in the marketing industry.
“We’re talking about people that are meeting in industries, people that have millions of followers across all social media platforms and, man, like, I just wish I could be in every single room to listen [to] what all these people would have to say,” she said.
Personal injury attorney and sponsor for Social Fest, Leah Wise said why she is the perfect sponsor for this year .
“I think because I am a law firm that was built on social media, it was just like a no brainer for me. I did not have money for commercials, billboards, Google ads, paper click,” Wise said.
She said she is excited to help the community learn about marketing by inviting leaders in content creation to Social Fest.
Brand Geniuz Co-founder Josh Howard explained the goal of social fest is to grow a community in the RGV and for the event to become an annual staple.
“We want this to be a conference that people from all over the world are coming to,” Howard said. “ In the years to come, we’re going to be increasing the days. So we want it to be a week-long thing at some point in time, maybe even longer, but we’re going to add other elements other than social media.”
The event will take place at the Mission Convention Center Nov.12 and Nov.13. To learn more about Social Fest visit their website
