The Volleyball team had a press conference on Nov.5 at the UTRGV Fieldhouse recapping on the Vaqueros’ winning streak and what’s driving their success.
The UTRGV women’s volleyball team has been unstoppable this season. With a strong start and confident play, the Vaqueros are showing their hard work and team chemistry is paying off on the court.
Head coach Todd Lowery expressed this season has been a fun ride.
Lowery said the second time you play a team it will be harder than the first one, but this time the schedule worked in their favor.
“Playing everybody second time around is always hard, is harder than the first time, I think the schedule kinda worked in our favor,” he said.
Sophomore outside hitter Martina Franco said she and her teammates want to go into the championship and they are taking one game at the time.
Franco said they have a really strong relationship inside and outside the court.
“Having a lot of fun, when we have fun is the best way we play,” Franco said.
Franco said that having a lot of international players in the team makes them have a stronger connection and work better.
“When we are stretching we are counting in the numbers from Italy, Portuguese, Spanish and that’s so fun. We all just love to learn about different cultures from everybody,” Franco said.
As the season continues, the UTRGV women’s volleyball team hopes to carry their success all the way to a conference title.
