As the summer semester approaches, students are sharing their concerns on why some courses are only offered on one campus.

UTRGV Radio News spoke with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Walter Diaz, and he tells us one factor that determines which summer courses are offered.

[su_quote]“So, it’s a combination of demand and the availability of facility to teach the courses that are necessary.”

Instructors are not obligated to work during the summer. Senior Associate of the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Pamela Anderson-Mejias, says it is only a matter of students communicating with the department and planning ahead of time.

[su_quote]“So, if students look at the rotation and they know their degree plan, they can actually plan on this.”

Dr. Anderson-Mejias cautions students to reach out to advisors or the dean of their departments for guidance on course selection.
