In September, the Office of Institutional Accreditation successfully submitted the compliance certification report to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
According to its website SACSCOC “is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the southern states.”
Associate Vice President for Institutional Accreditation, Christine Shupala explains what goes into the report.
“The report that we sent is a major report. That covers 13 areas that SACSCOC, our accrediting body, wants us to cover. So, there are about 70, a little over 70 standards that we had to address, in broad subject areas.”
Shupala says that reaffirmation is a Federal government requirement and is not related to UTRGV’s probationary status of last year.
The SACSCOC board of trustees will vote next December on the University’s accreditation.
