With all precincts reporting, the Texas Gubernatorial race between Gov. Greg Abbott and Beto O’Rourke, turned in favor of O’Rourke for Cameron County. O’Rourke led with 41,605 votes while Gov. Greg Abbott fell behind with 34,264 of the votes.
A close race between Republican Mayra Flores and Democratic Vicente Gonzalez, representatives running for U.S. Representatives for District 34. Gonzalez led with 38,380 votes, against Flores’ 35,658.
Candidates Aaron Peña and Leticia Hinojosa ran for Justice 13th Court of Appeals, from District Place 3. With a significant difference, Hinojosa took the lead with 57.05% of the votes. Peña garnered 42.95% .
One hundred percent of the votes in, indicate the County Judge candidates Carlos Cascos and Eddie Treviño Jr.
With a little less than half of the votes, Joey Lopez took the lead over Erasmo Castro with 13,110 votes over Castro’s 7,575, in the County Commissioner for Precinct 2 race.
The County Commissioner of Precinct 4 race ended in favor of Gus Ruiz in the lead with 10,951 of the votes, against Charles “Chuck” Vieh’s 9,289.
Board of Trustees, Place 1 in Brownsville Independent School District is taken by Denise Garza, who ran against Victor M. Caballero. Garza won 16,495 votes opposed to 12,106 from Caballero.
