Founder and Host of The Rio Grande Podcast Samuel Sanchez wants his show to be a spotlight for the community in the valley to share their stories and experiences with a wider audience.

Sanchez said the goal for the podcast is for local businesses to have a platform to promote their products and services while also showcasing the unique culture and talent of the Rio Grande Valley.

He said he believes in the power of storytelling to connect individuals and foster a sense of community within the region.

“ A little bit of wanting to help local businesses get some more spotlight,” Sanchez said. “And then also a little bit of, like, just wanting to help us rally together as a community, and that’s the goal. Working to help the Valley, help us feel that like we’re in the awesome place that we’re in.”

Sanchez said the importance of authenticity and rawness in his podcast, aiming to provide accurate information while highlighting the Valley.

“It can be as raw and authentic as it needs to be,” he said. “Which was important to us, and now that goes a little bit into like journalism, right? But we want to make things as accurate as possible while at the same time highlighting that the Valley is awesome, which it is. So, like we don’t have to pretend because it really is.”

Sanchez said the best part is learning from the guest speakers.

Sanchez said he thanks people from the Rio Grande Valley, especially small business owners, who provide special aspects that make the Valley unique.

“Just thank you for helping the Valley become stronger because with this whole idea, it’s only possible with community involvement,” he said.
