Police Impersonator at Student Apartments

Students across UTRGV have expressed concerns after a student from a nearby apartment complex at the Edinburg campus was woken up at 4am from an alleged police officer impersonator. UTRGV Radio spoke with Chief of Police at UTRGV, Raul Mungia, Chief Mungia explains that students should notify UTRGV PD about all situations happening around the campus.

“Yeah, we should know, because I mean we will help do something about it. We have some cases where Edinburg- if we get enough information, when we talk to them. They just tell us to run with it.”

Chief Mungia encourages students across the campus to report any suspicious activity and provide valid descriptions of the incidents to UTRGV PD.

“We would like to know what kind of uniform look like, what did they remember. But if they ever ever question- say they look out the door they see someone they really don’t recognize, or they don’t think it’s a real cop. There’s nothing stopping them from dialing 911.”

Students at utrgv are encouraged to download the campus shield avalible on both the apple store and google play store. this is jerry galindo for utrgv news.
