As the spring semester comes to an end, so does the Zoom classes. Vaquero Radio asked students about their online learning experience. Early Childhood and Education Junior, Samantha Montoya had a unique experience during her zoom class.
Montoya says she was not appropriately dressed to be on camera, however, her mic was on. Her husband told her to be careful to not show her chest area.
And I realize my microphone is on… So I was thinking they probably think I’m like naked or something…and I turn the microphone off …and then I am so embarrassed to go back in class every single time…
Computer Science Junior, Jacinto Garcia says for him online lecture is a little bit harder and more distracting.
But having the actual lecture is a little bit more hard, especially for us people like me that get distracted very easily, or that have a lot going on, living with you know, multiple people in the household…
Jacinto says his mother has interrupted his online sessions before, while his microphone and camera were on.
Exercise Science Senior, Jonathan Salinas says he has noticed that certain teachers have assigned more homework than usual.
He says he understands other student’s frustrations from the extra assignments.
I can understand the whole frustration of some people with losing jobs, working extra, having kids at the house all the time, it’s a whole bunch of stuff, fortunately, I don’t have anything of that to deal with…
Biomedical Science tutor that asked to remain anonymous says she has seen people have difficulty accessing the internet.
I know some of my students do not have means of getting internet … so they have trouble reaching us and so we have to mark them absent…
Finance Senior, Sergio Peña says one time during his online zoom session he was not aware that his microphone was on while using an obscene word.
You know when you are in zoom, and you speak your camera gets transferred to the main camera so everyone can see it, and I was not fully aware of it, you know, so I was just talking for about like 30 seconds and after I said that word you can just listen to this cold silence…
