Two candidates are seeking election or reelection in the District 27 State Senator race. Vaquero Radio spoke with both candidates. Neither candidate is facing a primary challenger. Their profiles are below.
Name: Morgan LaMantia (Incumbent)
Party: Democratic
Occupation: Attorney
Hometown: Palm Valley
Why should individuals vote for you?
“So, I am running for reelection for state senate, and I’m running to fight for public education, for health care. We need accessible, affordable and quality health care in the Valley and of course for our small businesses because they are the backbone of our communities and our families.”
What is your platform?
“I’m running on a platform that really focuses on family, the family unit. In order to have a strong family, in order to have strong leaders coming from South Texas, we need to support the South Texas families.”
What is the biggest issue you will address?
“We need to fully fund our public schools. We need to find new and innovative ways to expand health care access. We also need to make it more affordable to live in South Texas and especially on the coast and that means looking at our insurance rates, looking at those additional costs that are so unique to South Texas and the coastal communities.”
Final thoughts?
“My district represents eight counties from the coastal bend to South Texas and I’m so blessed and honored to represent those counties, to represent that place that I call home.”
