The Political Science Association hosted a law and policy discussion with Attorney and running judge Lucia Regalado. Students engaged in the discussion to learn about the current political climate and implications that are in the court system field.
President of the Political Science Association Daniella Guerra said the goal behind the discussion was to give insight behind what the career of an attorney is like.
“We wanted to have a heavy incorporation of policy background because we have other political science organizations who do, the speaker talks with attorneys, and we like to hear their stories, but we also want to know how we’re being affected and like how these policies are changing,” Guerra said.
Member of the Political Science Association Maria Aguirre said the discussion with Lucia Regalado has been impactful for her.
“I thought it was really interesting because I got her perspective of what she does with child court and, like, victim advocacy,” Aguirre said. “So I thought that was really interesting. So it kind of just brought insight of like, ‘oh, okay, I’m able to do this and just there [are] new ways to incorporate my degree with it.”
Member of the Pre-Law Society Jesus Pruneda said the discussion with the attorney was informative since he was able to learn about Regalado’s personal principles.
