Following the International Student Orientation, UTRGV hosted Saddle Up in the ballroom, allowing international students to learn more about the resources and organizations available on campus.
The event featured tables from different UTRGV clubs and offices. Representatives shared information about their organizations and explained how they can support students during their time at UTRGV.
Lourdes Elizondo, secretary for ENACTUS, said the event was an opportunity to help students with their professional goals.
“We’re here to assist students with anything we can to help them find internships, jobs, and just better their future,” Elizondo said.
Other university offices focused on making students aware of the support available to them on campus.
Sofia Valdez, student accessibility employee, said the event was about connecting students with those resources.
“It’s just to spread awareness, information, let them know what resources are available here, with them at UTRGV,” Valdez said.
Students also had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives and ask questions about the different services available.
Ximena Bardem, student assistant at the Office for Student Rights and Responsibilities, said students were actively involved throughout the event.
“Yes, so the students were very engaged. We were able to have great talks and inform them,” Bardem said.
Saddle Up provided international students with an opportunity to become more familiar with the UTRGV community and learn about organizations and offices that can support students throughout their college experience.
