The Institute of Electrical Engineers and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) advocates for engineering students who look forward to gaining experience by participating in competitions and doing projects.
Vice President of IEEE Axel Rocha said the club competes in the Archive Conference.
“We work on robotic submissions… we compete in robotics competitions with other universities,” Rocha said. “It’s basically a competition where we make our own robot with students and then we compete with all the robots.”
He said there are three or four main competitions available at the Archive Conference.
“There’s an ethics one, where we discuss the pros and cons of certain technologies like AI and what the benefit of humanity with that,” Rocha said. “ A circuit competition, they give us a problem and then based on our knowledge on circuits, we make a solution for that. And then, the last one is the robotics competition.”
He said the program enhanced his engineering experience.
Member of IEEE Christopher Hinojosa mentioned the organization has people from different engineering backgrounds.
“We have the most diverse amount of people coming from different backgrounds, CS, electrical engineering, computer engineering,” Hinojosa said.
He said the program works with a Perplexity AI.
