Kappa Delta Chi Sorority-Alpha Beta hosted “Trinket on the Table” Thursday at the EQUAD, giving students an opportunity to meet members, exchange small items and learn more about the organization.
The event took place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and featured trinkets such as charms, bracelets, pins and keychains. Students were invited to bring an item to trade while learning more about the sorority and its sisterhood.
Kiana Hernandez, historian, risk manager and alumni relations member for Kappa Delta Chi, said community service is an important part of the organization.
“We do a lot of, like, service events, meaning going and helping out our community, basically like cleaning highways, going to the beach to clean up, volunteering at, like, animal shelters, all that stuff,” Hernandez said.
Along with service, the sorority also focuses on helping members succeed academically through study sessions and other support.
“We do a lot of study hours to help our girls because our academics are very important to us,” Hernandez said. “We just basically do a lot of study hours to help our girls boost their GPAs, get where they need to, all that stuff.”
Hernandez said the chapter’s efforts have also been recognized through an award within its region.
“Our chapter actually won chapter of the year within our region,” Hernandez said.
Kappa Delta Chi Sorority-Alpha Beta promotes unity, honesty, integrity and leadership through service, academic activities, cultural workshops and sisterhood events. “Trinket on the Table” gave students an opportunity to connect with members while learning more about the organization and its activities on campus.
