VackarFest gave students the opportunity to connect with fellow students, explore organizations, academic programs and professional opportunities available through the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship (ECOBE).
The event took place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the ECOBE Lawn and gave students a chance to meet representatives from business organizations, learn about different programs and connect with potential new members.
Outreach officer for the Internal Audit Student Organization (IASA), Eliazar Reyna, said the event attracted more students despite the weather.
“A lot of students came by. I didn’t think it was going to be a lot due to the fact that it was super hot, but I wanted to be here to get this information out about what IASA is,” Reyna said.
Student organizations also used VackarFest to introduce students to opportunities for entrepreneurship and professional development.
Vice president of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Yolisma Pena, mentioned the opportunities that the organization brings to its members.
“Our members, they learn throughout our workshops, and we help them, like, have their own business ideas throughout the semester,” Pena said.
The event also highlighted the variety of academic paths available through the College of Business, including graduate programs.
President of the Graduate Business Leadership Association, Eli Gonzales, said students can pursue advanced degrees across several areas of business.
“Our associations, we take masters in business, or accountancy, finance, data science, everything, and PhD in marketing, all the business field,” Gonzales said.
