UTRGV Dining introduced the Snack-N-Go cart earlier this month to the Edinburg campus, the Food Cart is meant to provide students with a convenient and faster way of purchasing nonperishable foods and drinks at either the visitor bus stop or at the quad area. UTRGV Radio spoke with Director of Dining Services Gilbert Garza about what inspired idea behind Snack-N-Go.
“Our inspiration was to provide an extension of convivence to all campus visitors, staff, and students. Just another way to provide that added touch just in case we have weather concerns or issues.”
Students at UTRGV, such as Civil Engineering Freshman John Garza have had a mixed opinion on the snack cart, while realizing their convivence they are also worried about of pricing.
“I think its cool but like, but it’s expensive. I don’t know, for me it’s like the university obviously has to make a profit, you know it’s goanna be like three dollars for a chocolate bar. But I mean if you’re hungry, you’re going to buy it.”
Starting this week the Snack-N-Go cart will be available on both campuses, Garza explained what that the main goal is currently for the Snack-N-Go cart.
“Our goal is to get feedback. What can we provide in this cart. What kind of items are our students, faculty, and staff, in regards to adding and taking away.”
Garza told UTRGV Radio that expandability of hot and chilled food items is currently in discussion and that Dining Services will take as much feedback as possible from students as the semester continues.
