The Wrangler Car Smash activity Dec.3 on the Edinburg Campus Diego Montano / Vaquero Radio
Students gathered on Wednesday at the Edinburg Student Union for The Wrangler, an event designed to help students de-stress before finals.
The event was organized by Student Activities in collaboration with the Student Union staff.
Program Coordinator for Student Activities and board advisor Aaron Farrell said the event has evolved over the years.
“Formerly known as the Breakfast Wrangler, It is an event that is going on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where students can come out and interact with different types of activities that are going on throughout the hours,” Farrell said.
This event is a yearly tradition, with each occasion being a little different. This year “breakfast” was removed from the title.
Program coordinator of the Student Union for Edinburg and Brownsville, Anahi Esquivel, said the goal was to offer more variety this year.
“So now instead of just breakfast and games, we are actually having hourly activities, as well as free treats, snacks. And different activities, we just we had therapy dogs, we had yoga, we had VR, we had drift karts,” Esquivel said.
Students took the chance to take a break from studying before the finals week and engage in the activities.
Trailblazer and senior Benjamin Vasquez said the activity he liked most about the event.
“I think it’s great, they have like smash a car, free apples and oranges or apples and lemons. And right now we’re about to get on the go-karts that they have, and that looks very fun,” Vasquez said.
