After two games away from home and their defeat against UTSA, the Vaqueros are back in the
Valley using the return home to regroup, correct mistakes and prepare for their next conference
matchup.
Quarterback Garrett Rangel said the team is ready to get back on the field after last week’s
result.
“Everyone has a little pep in their step this week, especially that sour taste in our mouth last week, so everyone’s ready to roll. ” Rangel said
Rangel said the team has spent the week focused on improving their plays.
“We’re really focusing on them, not just letting— not just going over the plays, but really playing football and really trying to execute. ” Rangel said
For Malachi Lane, returning to the Valley brings another important factor: the home crowd.
“I’m very excited to be back in the Valley. Being on the road, it’s tough being on the road. Now we’re back home in the Valley, got our fans behind us. It just brings another element to the game.” Lane said
Lane said the team cannot rely on their past results.
“Just ’cause we beat them last year doesn’t guarantee anything this year, so we gotta continue to work hard and continue to focus on the little details. ”Lane said
Defensive player Jaiden Haygood said he is also looking forward to the team’s return home.
“I just can’t wait to get out there and show them what we’re really about. ”Haygood said
He added the team understands it has to improve, but he believes the players can respond
together.
For last Saturday’s game, Haygood said the goal was simple.
“Really, just get a win, and I mean, make it look like a dominant win. ”Haygood said
