UTRGV’s Department of Writing and Language Studies hosted the 5th Multilingual Fest last week.

The department unites with the College of Liberal Arts to celebrate the different cultures and languages that are embraced at UTRGV.

Lecturer for the Department of Writing and Language Studies, Regine Pellicer explains that the event helps students learn about the different language classes offered.

“We feel like very often students don’t know actually, all the classes, actually, that are offered at UTRGV.”

Languages such as Spanish, American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean and French had booths in which they got to explain to students what their classes consist of.

master’s in administration student, abner quiroga tells utrgv radio why he thinks the event is important.

“It’s important for us just because it gives people a different insight to different cultures, allowing them to see how we are all usually connected by our humanity.”
