With the help of different audiences within the UTRGV community, the Marketing and Communications department redesigned the official university website homepage and it is set to launch before Aug. 29

Previously announced to be released last monday, it has now been delayed indefinitely.

Marketing and Communications Vice President Patrick Gonzales said, “We are still reviewing and updating some of the content,” regarding the setback.

With the fall semester just around the corner, the launch was set to be released before classes started to give students and spectators a chance to comment and rid the webpage of its faults.

Even so when the new homepage is finally launched the marketing team will still be taking feedback, according to Gonzales.

“Once it launches, that doesn’t mean we stop taking comments,” Gonzales said, “so if anybody has any feedback, we are gonna be taking that all the time.”

The website design came from graphic designers and the web team at the Marketing and Communications department at UTRGV, Gonzales said.

During the research, a collaboration between prospective and current students, as well as faculty and staff was made to consult on the appearance and functionality, consequently  coming to a conclusion on what the website should look like.

The main focus of the website, as stated on the university wide announcement email, “Includes an updated look and functionality that better aligns itself with UTRGV’s goals and industry best practices.”

The page will focus on marketing the university to recruit new students. “We want new students to come to the website, learn about the university, learn about programs that are being offered,” Gonzales said.

Phase two will focus on redesigning the college, school and division websites and designed by the same team in the Marketing and Communications department. The phase two project has yet to start and is set to be released sometime in the Fall 2022 semester.
