UTRGV baseball (21-15) triumphs against Incarnate Word Cardinals (15-18) 9-3 last Tuesday night at the UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

The Vaqueros baseball team has successfully won its third straight game and scored in the bottom of the first inning and twice in the eighth inning (9-1).

At the end of the third inning, the Vaqueros used a sacrifice fly to the center field by graduate outfielder Bryan Sturges who has an .376 batting Avg. leading the team to 1-0.

Ramirez finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored just like Cain and he went 2-for-3 with a walk. Rojas finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Junior infielder Chris Mondesi went 2-for-4 with and scored two runs. 

The Vaqueros added three more runs in the fourth on an RBI single by graduate outfielder Freddy Rojas Jr with an average of 28 RBI.

Sturges belted a two-run home run that made the crowd go crazy, he has the average of 5 home runs per season, his fifth, in the fifth inning to put the Vaqueros up 6-0.

Junior infielder Diego Ramirez added a two-run home run, the first of his career, to put the Vaqueros up 9-1.

The Vaqueros will be back in action against the Longhorns this Tuesday at 6:30 at the UTRGV stadium. Tickets are already sold out by expecting a big crowd and an interesting game.
